What you’ll need to get started

  1. The Login link for Locale (https://app.locale.to/en/)

  2. The admin login information with access to the Admin Console for your Zendesk instance.

    1. Note: If you do not possess the correct credentials to access this information, please contact your system administrator or your Zendesk representative. Locale does not have access to this nor do we provide this information.

  3. User login information for both your Locale instance, and your Zendesk instance

    1. A trial account of Locale can also be taken for free by going to locale.to and selecting the “Get Started” button

Supported content types

At the time of this publication (November 2023) the Zendesk Connector supports the following content.

  • Published content from the sections, categories, and articles components of your Zendesk Help Center instance. These can includes published pieces which are part of a collection, or are stand alone articles.

  • Draft content will not be accessed for translation

Creating a Locale project with the Zendesk Connector

Before you can create a Zendesk project in Locale, make sure you've followed the steps in our Adding the Zendesk Connector to your Locale instance article. If you have already added the connector to your Locale instance, continue reading below.

  1. From the Locale dashboard, start by creating a new project, and navigating to the Zendesk connector from the Locale App Store and select Create Project.

  2. Start by entering the source and target languages for your instance and selecting Add Project.

    1. Make sure to use the correct language variants when creating your project.

  3. Locale will automatically calculate the number of words which need to be translated for your project

  4. You can also access the Content tab to select or deselect the specific categories and articles which will be sent for translation

    1. Note: Locale can only access articles and categories which have been published. Anything in the draft status in Zendesk will not be extracted for translation.

  5. When all the necessary content has been selected for translation, your content can be pushed for translation.

  6. And show the status In Progress

  7. Once the translation step has been completed, the status will update to Complete in Locale

  8. And the content will be delivered into your Zendesk instance.
