Introduction

The Kontent.ai connector from Locale helps automate your translation workflow. By installing and using the Kontent.ai connector, you’ll reduce the amount of manual project management and verification of tasks between your Kontent.ai data source, and your TMS, TBMS, or LSP. Text-related content from your content models such as articles and pages can easily and quickly be sent for translation through the Locale platform for fast access to localization and internationalization content.

What you’ll need to get started

  1. The Login link for Locale (https://app.locale.to/en/)

  2. The login link for your Kontent.ai instance.

    1. Note: This is provided to you by your Kontent.ai account manager, support team, or contact person. If you are unsure of this information, please contact your system administrator or your Kontent.ai representative.

  3. User login information for both your Locale instance, and your Kontent.ai instance

    1. A trial account of Locale can also be taken for free by going to locale.to and selecting the “Get Started” button

Supported content types & limitations

  • Text Fields

    • All text field content item types defined in content models can be sent for translation, this includes those which contain RichText formatting.

  • Limitations

    • Other content types which include nested content and images cannot currently be sent for translation as there is other file formatting which needs to occur for this to work automatically.

Creating a project for translation in Locale

To continue with this process, first ensure you have properly configured the Kontent.ai connector with your Locale instance. Information on these steps can be found in our article Configuring the Kontent.ai Connector.

  1. To create a project in Locale, you’ll first need to add the Kontent.ai connector to your Locale instance. For more information on these steps, please see our articles on Accessing your Locale instance and Configuring the Kontent.ai connector.

  2. After adding a Kontent.ai project to your Locale instance, start by choosing the source and target languages for your project and select Add Project.

    1. Note: the target languages must also be enabled in your Kontent.ai instance for the translations to be properly inserted in your required Kontent.ai projects.

  3. Locale will automatically connect to your Kontent.ai instance, and perform an analysis on the content that needs to be translated.

  4. Once the content has been analyzed, Locale will display the number of words and segments which require translation

  5. Select the green “Push Content” button to choose from your options of sending content to your LSP of choice, TMS system, or an MT engine for processing.

  6. Once this step has been completed and the translations have been delivered back to your Locale instance, they will be made available in your Kontent.ai instance automatically, and your Locale instance will update with the Complete translations status.
