Introduction

The Akeneo PIM connector with Locale aims to reduce the amount of manual project management and verification of tasks between your Akeneo data source, and your TMS, TBMS, or LSP. By enabling Locale’s Akeneo PIM connector in your Akeneo PIM instance, anytime a product is changed, updated, added or removed, Locale can ensure that the necessary localization steps are also applied to your products, automatically. Whether enabling access to your entire store, or only select components and segments, the Akeneo PIM connector is guaranteed to make the life of your localization teams that much easier.

What you’ll need to get started

  1. The Login link for Locale (https://app.locale.to/en/)

  2. The login link for your Akeneo PIM instance.

    1. Note: This is provided to you by your Akeneo account manager, support team, or contact person. If you are unsure of this information, please contact your system administrator or your Akeneo representative.

  3. User login information for both your Locale instance, and your Akeneo PIM instance

    1. A trial account of Locale can also be taken for free by going to locale.to and selecting the “Get Started” button

Configuring the Akeneo PIM connector

To continue with this process, it’s necessary to have the Akaneo PIM connector configured between your Akeneo PIM instance, and your Locale instance. If you haven’t completed this step yet, please see our article on Adding the Akeneo PIM connector to a Locale project

Now that the Akeneo PIM connector has been installed, it’s time to configure a few of the settings in Akeneo

  1. Start by accessing your Akeneo PIM instance, and choosing the Connect > Connected Apps > My Connected Custom Apps > Manage App under Lang Connector.

  2. A new window will appear similar to what is shown below, where it is necessary to grant catalog access to Locale, in order to receive the content for translation. Select the “disabled” button, and in the top menu of the App Management screen, enable catalog access by toggling the No/Yes button.

    1. Note: If the catalog data option is not enabled, Locale will return with an analysis error, stating that the translations have been completed, as a result of not having access to the necessary catalog information to be translated.

Now return to Locale and continue to Create a Project for translation in Locale.
