Introduction

The Akeneo PIM connector with Locale aims to reduce the amount of manual project management and verification of tasks between your Akeneo data source, and your TMS, TBMS, or LSP. By enabling Locale’s Akeneo PIM connector in your Akeneo PIM instance, anytime a product is changed, updated, added or removed, Locale can ensure that the necessary localization steps are also applied to your products, automatically. Whether enabling access to your entire store, or only select components and segments, the Akeneo PIM connector is guaranteed to make the life of your localization teams that much easier.

What you’ll need to get started

  1. The Login link for Locale (https://app.locale.to/en/)

  2. The login link for your Akeneo PIM instance.

    1. Note: This is provided to you by your Akeneo account manager, support team, or contact person. If you are unsure of this information, please contact your system administrator or your Akeneo representative.

  3. User login information for both your Locale instance, and your Akeneo PIM instance

    1. A trial account of Locale can also be taken for free by going to locale.to and selecting the “Get Started” button

Adding the Akeneo PIM Connector to your Akeneo PIM instance

  1. Start by accessing Locale, and choosing to login (instructions can be found here) with your username and password.

  2. Once logged into Locale we’re greeted with our Dashboard, which looks something like this image below.

3. Next, select the “Add Project” button from the dashboard. This will populate a list of connectors which can be used for our project. From this list, start by selecting the PIM filter on the left side, and choosing “Create Project” under Akeneo.

4. Next, the connector will require the Akeneo PIM URL link, this can be copied and pasted into the required field, and then select Submit.

  • Note: When entering the Akeneo PIM URL details, it is necessary to include the https:// portion of the link, otherwise an authentication error may appear

  • Note: It is recommended that the final “/” at the end of the URL be removed from the Akeneo PIM URL, to ensure that the Locale generated link in the UI appears correctly, and will allow you to access your Akeneo PIM, directly from the Locale UI.

5. After selecting “Submit” the next steps will be part of a quick-and-easy 3-step authentication of permissions process between Locale and your Akeneo PIM.

  • Page 1: permits Lang Connect (Locale’s Akeneo PIM Connector) to view, edit, and delete catalogs, as well as view and edit products and product models. Read through the app’s Privacy Policy and Terms of Use, and when ready, check the box and choose “Allow and Next” in the top right corner

  • Page 2 enables any (or all) of the Category Trees, Locales, and Attribute Groups which will be examined by Locale and sent for localization. It is also possible to enable an entire category by selecting the “All” checkbox to the right of the drop down menu. Should you need to make any changes, simply select the pencil eraser button to the right of the “All” checkbox, and modify your selection. When the selection has been finalized, select “Next” in the top right corner.

  • Finally, page 3 is a summary page for the actions and selections we’ve just chosen. If you’re happy with the selection, finalize the setup by choosing the “Confirm” button in the top right corner. If not, select the previous button and go back to the previous pages to make any changes or modifications.

Congratulations! You’ve just connected your Akeneo PIM to your Locale instance 🥳
